2 Peter 2:17

These men ¹  are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm, for whom the utter depths of darkness ²  have been reserved.

These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them.

These are springs without water and mists driven by a storm, for whom the black darkness has been reserved.

These people are as useless as dried–up springs of water or as clouds blown away by the wind––promising much and delivering nothing. They are doomed to blackest darkness.

There's nothing to these people--they're dried-up fountains, storm-scattered clouds, headed for a black hole in hell.

These are fountains without water, and mists before a driving storm; for whom the eternal night is kept in store.

These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm; for them the deepest darkness has been reserved.

These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

¹ tn Although some translations have simply “these” or “these people,” since in v. 14 they are described as having eyes “full of an adulteress,” men are in view.

² tn Grk “utter darkness of darkness.” Verse 4 speaks of wicked angels presently in “chains of utter darkness,” while the final fate of the false teachers is a darker place still.
