1 Timothy 2:1

First of all, then, I urge that requests, ¹  prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people, ²

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God’s mercy upon them, and give thanks.

The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

My desire is, first of all, that you will make requests and prayers and give praise for all men;

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,

² tn Grk “all men”; but here ἀνθρώπων (anqrwpwn) is used generically, referring to both men and women.
