1 Peter 1:20

He was foreknown ¹  before the foundation of the world but ²  was manifested in these last times ³  for your sake.

He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you

God chose him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, he was sent to the earth for all to see. And he did this for you.

And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately--at the end of the ages--become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you.

Who was marked out by God before the making of the world, but was caused to be seen in these last times for you,

He was destined before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of the ages for your sake.

He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you

He was foreknown ¹  before the foundation of the world but ²  was manifested in these last times ³  for your sake.

¹ tn Grk “who was foreknown,” describing Christ in v. 19. Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

² tn Greek emphasizes the contrast between these two clauses more than can be easily expressed in English.

³ tn Grk “at the last of the times.”
