1 Kings 1:1

King David was very old; ¹  even when they covered him with blankets, ²  he could not get warm.

When King David was old and well advanced in years, he could not keep warm even when they put covers over him.

Now King David was old, advanced in age; and they covered him with clothes, but he could not keep warm.

Now King David was very old, and no matter how many blankets covered him, he could not keep warm.

King David grew old. The years had caught up with him. Even though they piled blankets on him, he couldn't keep warm.

Now King David was old and far on in years; and though they put covers over him, his body was cold.

King David was old and advanced in years; and although they covered him with clothes, he could not get warm.

Now King David was old, advanced in years; and they put covers on him, but he could not get warm.

King David was very old; ¹  even when they covered him with blankets, ²  he could not get warm.
