1 Chronicles 21:4

But the king’s edict stood, despite Joab’s objections. ¹  So Joab left and traveled throughout Israel before returning to Jerusalem. ² 

The king’s word, however, overruled Joab; so Joab left and went throughout Israel and then came back to Jerusalem.

Nevertheless, the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore, Joab departed and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

But the king insisted that Joab take the census, so Joab traveled throughout Israel to count the people. Then he returned to Jerusalem

But David wouldn't take no for an answer, so Joab went off and did it--canvassed the country and then came back to Jerusalem

But the king’s word was stronger than Joab’s. So Joab went out and went through all Israel and came to Jerusalem.
