Context11:38 You must obey 5 all I command you to do, follow my instructions, 6 do what I approve, 7 and keep my rules and commandments, like my servant David did. Then I will be with you and establish for you a lasting dynasty, as I did for David; 8 I will give you Israel.
1 tn Heb “and do all which the foreigner calls to [i.e., “requests of”] you.”
2 tn Heb “your name.” See the note on the word “reputation” in v. 41.

4 tn Heb “that your name is called over this house which I built.” The Hebrew idiom “to call the name over” indicates ownership. See 2 Sam 12:28.
5 tn Heb “If you obey.” In the Hebrew text v. 38 is actually one long conditional sentence, which has been broken into two parts in the translation for stylistic purposes.
