Ruth 4:16

Naomi took the child and placed him on her lap; ¹  she became his caregiver. ² 

Then Naomi took the child, laid him in her lap and cared for him.

Then Naomi took the child and laid him in her lap, and became his nurse.

Naomi took care of the baby and cared for him as if he were her own.

Naomi took the baby and held him in her arms, cuddling him, cooing over him, waiting on him hand and foot.

² tn Heb “his nurse,” but this refers to a dry nurse, not a medical attendant. Cf. NIV “and cared for him”; TEV “and took (+ good CEV) care of him.”
