Revelation 9:6

In ¹  those days people ²  will seek death, but ³  will not be able to ⁴  find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them.

During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.

When this happens, people are going to prefer death to torture, look for ways to kill themselves. But they won't find a way--death will have gone into hiding.

³ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “but” to indicate the contrast present in this context.

⁴ tn The phrase “not be able to” was used in the translation to emphasize the strong negation (οὐ μή, ou mh) in the Greek text.
