Psalms 40:16

May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you! May those who love to experience ¹  your deliverance say continually, ²  “May the Lord be praised!” ³ 

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, "The LORD be exalted!"

Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, "The LORD be magnified!"

But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, "The LORD is great!"

But all who are hunting for you--oh, let them sing and be happy. Let those who know what you're all about tell the world you're great and not quitting.

Let all those who are looking for you be glad and have joy in you; let the lovers of your salvation ever say, May the Lord be great.

¹ tn Heb “those who love,” which stands metonymically for its cause, the experience of being delivered by the Lord.

² tn The three prefixed verbal forms prior to the quotation are understood as jussives. The psalmist balances out his imprecation against his enemies with a prayer of blessing upon the godly.

³ tn The prefixed verbal form is taken as a jussive, “may the Lord be magnified [in praise].” Another option is to take the verb as an imperfect, “the Lord is great” (cf. NRSV). See Ps 35:27.
