Philippians 3:10

My aim is to know him, ¹  to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, ²  and to be like him in his death,

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;

As a result, I can really know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I can learn what it means to suffer with him, sharing in his death,

I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself.

That I may have knowledge of him, and of the power of his coming back from the dead, and a part with him in his pains, becoming like him in his death;

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death,

that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

¹ tn The articular infinitive τοῦ γνῶναι (tou gnwnai, “to know”) here expresses purpose. The words “My aim is” have been supplied in the translation to emphasize this nuance and to begin a new sentence (shorter sentences are more appropriate for English style).

² tn Grk “to know him, the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings.”
