John 8:58

Jesus said to them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  before Abraham came into existence, ²  I am!” ³ 

"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am."

Jesus answered, "The truth is, I existed before Abraham was even born!"

"Believe me," said Jesus, "I am who I am long before Abraham was anything."

Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, Before Abraham came into being, I am.

Jesus said to them, "Very truly, I tell you, before Abraham was, I am."

Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

Jesus said to them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  before Abraham came into existence, ²  I am!” ³ 

¹ tn Grk “Truly, truly, I say to you.”

² tn Grk “before Abraham was.”

³ sn I am! is an explicit claim to deity. Although each occurrence of the phrase “I am” in the Fourth Gospel needs to be examined individually in context to see if an association with Exod 3:14 is present, it seems clear that this is the case here (as the response of the Jewish authorities in the following verse shows).
