Judges 5:6

In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael caravans ¹  disappeared; ²  travelers ³  had to go on winding side roads.

"In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the roads were abandoned; travellers took to winding paths.

"In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, In the days of Jael, the highways were deserted, And travelers went by roundabout ways.

"In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, and in the days of Jael, people avoided the main roads, and travelers stayed on crooked side paths.

In the time of Shamgar son of Anath, and in the time of Jael, Public roads were abandoned, travelers went by backroads.

In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were not used, and travellers went by side roads.

"In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, caravans ceased and travelers kept to the byways.

"In the days of Shamgar, son of Anath, In the days of Jael, The highways were deserted, And the travelers walked along the byways.

¹ tc The translation assumes the form אֳרְחוֹת (’orÿkhot, “caravans”) rather than אֳרָחוֹת (’orakhot, “roadways”) because it makes a tighter parallel with “travelers” in the next line.
