Genesis 17:2

Then I will confirm my covenant ¹  between me and you, and I will give you a multitude of descendants.” ² 

I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers."

"I will establish My covenant between Me and you, And I will multiply you exceedingly."

I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to make you into a mighty nation."

I'll make a covenant between us and I'll give you a huge family."

And I will make an agreement between you and me, and your offspring will be greatly increased.

And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will make you exceedingly numerous."

"And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly."

Then I will confirm my covenant ¹  between me and you, and I will give you a multitude of descendants.” ² 

¹ tn Following the imperative, the cohortative indicates consequence. If Abram is blameless, then the Lord will ratify the covenant. Earlier the Lord ratified part of his promise to Abram (see Gen 15:18-21), guaranteeing him that his descendants would live in the land. But the expanded form of the promise, which includes numerous descendants and eternal possession of the land, remains to be ratified. ² tn Heb “I will multiply you exceedingly, exceedingly.” The repetition is emphatic.
