Exodus 5:13

The slave masters were pressuring ¹  them, saying, “Complete ²  your work for each day, just like when there was straw!”

The slave drivers kept pressing them, saying, "Complete the work required of you for each day, just as when you had straw."

The taskmasters pressed them, saying, "Complete your work quota, your daily amount, just as when you had straw."

The slave drivers were brutal. "Meet your daily quota of bricks, just as you did before!" they demanded.

The slave-drivers were merciless, saying, "Complete your daily quota of bricks--the same number as when you were given straw."

And the overseers went on driving them and saying, Do your full day’s work as before when there were dry stems for you.

The taskmasters were urgent, saying, "Complete your work, the same daily assignment as when you were given straw."

And the taskmasters forced them to hurry, saying, "Fulfill your work, your daily quota, as when there was straw."

The slave masters were pressuring ¹  them, saying, “Complete ²  your work for each day, just like when there was straw!”

¹ tn Or “pressed.”

² tn כַּלּוּ (kallu) is the Piel imperative; the verb means “to finish, complete” in the sense of filling up the quota.
