Psalms 89:25

I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers. ¹ 

I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.

"I shall also set his hand on the sea And his right hand on the rivers.

I will extend his rule from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in the east.

I've put Ocean in his one hand, River in the other;

I will put his hand in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.

I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.

Also I will set his hand over the sea, And his right hand over the rivers.

¹ tn Some identify “the sea” as the Mediterranean and “the rivers” as the Euphrates and its tributaries. However, it is more likely that “the sea” and “the rivers” are symbols for hostile powers that oppose God and the king (see v. 9, as well as Ps 93:3-4).
