Psalms 81:13

If only my people would obey me! ¹  If only Israel would keep my commands! ² 

"If my people would but listen to me, if Israel would follow my ways,

"Oh that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!

But oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths!

"Oh, dear people, will you listen to me now? Israel, will you follow my map?

If only my people would give ear to me, walking in my ways!

O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!

"Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!

¹ tn Heb “if only my people were listening to me.” The Hebrew particle לוּ (lu, “if not”) introduces a purely hypothetical or contrary to fact condition (see 2 Sam 18:12).
