Psalms 21:1

For the music director; a psalm of David. O Lord, the king rejoices in the strength you give; ²  he takes great delight in the deliverance you provide. ³ 

For the director of music. A psalm of David. O LORD, the king rejoices in your strength. How great is his joy in the victories you give!

<<For the choir director. A Psalm of David.>> O LORD, in Your strength the king will be glad, And in Your salvation how greatly he will rejoice!

<<For the choir director: A psalm of David.>> How the king rejoices in your strength, O LORD! He shouts with joy because of your victory.

Your strength, GOD, is the king's strength. Helped, he's hollering Hosannas.

<To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David.> The king will be glad in your strength, O Lord; how great will be his delight in your salvation!

In your strength the king rejoices, O LORD, and in your help how greatly he exults!

<<To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.>> The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD; And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

¹ sn Psalm 21. The psalmist praises the Lord for the way he protects and blesses the Davidic king.

² tn Heb “in your strength.” The translation interprets the pronominal suffix as subjective, rather than merely descriptive (or attributive).

³ tn Heb “and in your deliverance, how greatly he rejoices.”
