Proverbs 24:34

and your poverty will come like a bandit, and your need like an armed robber.” ¹ 

and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.

Then your poverty will come as a robber And your want like an armed man.

and poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life, with poverty as your permanent houseguest!"

So loss will come on you like an outlaw, and your need like an armed man.

and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want, like an armed warrior.

So shall your poverty come like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.

and your poverty will come like a bandit, and your need like an armed robber.” ¹ 

¹ tn Heb “a man of shield.” This could refer to an armed warrior (so NRSV) but in this context, in collocation with the other word for “robber” in the previous line, it must refer to an armed criminal.
