Luke 6:3

Jesus ¹  answered them, ²  “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

Jesus answered them, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

And Jesus answering them said, "Have you not even read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him,

Jesus replied, "Haven’t you ever read in the Scriptures what King David did when he and his companions were hungry?

But Jesus stood up for them. "Have you never read what David and those with him did when they were hungry?

And Jesus said, Have you not seen in the Writings what David did when he was in need of food, he, and those who were with him;

Jesus answered, "Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

But Jesus answering them said, "Have you not even read this, what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:

Jesus ¹  answered them, ²  “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

¹ tn Grk “And Jesus.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

² tn Grk “Jesus, answering them, said.” This is redundant in contemporary English and has been simplified to “Jesus answered them.”
