Joshua 8:10

Bright and early the next morning Joshua gathered ¹  the army, ²  and he and the leaders ³  of Israel marched ⁴  at the head of it ⁵  to Ai.

Early the next morning Joshua mustered his men, and he and the leaders of Israel marched before them to Ai.

Now Joshua rose early in the morning and mustered the people, and he went up with the elders of Israel before the people to Ai.

Early the next morning Joshua roused his men and started toward Ai, accompanied by the leaders of Israel.

Joshua was up early in the morning and mustered his army. He and the leaders of Israel led the troops to Ai.

And early in the morning Joshua got up, and put the people in order, and he and the chiefs of Israel went up before the people to Ai.

In the morning Joshua rose early and mustered the people, and went up, with the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.

Then Joshua rose up early in the morning and mustered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.

² tn Heb “the people.”

³ tn Or “elders.”

⁴ tn Heb “went up.”

⁵ tn Heb “them” (referring to “the people” in the previous clause, which requires a plural pronoun). Since the translation used “army” in the previous clause, a singular pronoun (“it”) is required in English.
