Isaiah 17:4

“At that time ¹  Jacob’s splendor will be greatly diminished, ²  and he will become skin and bones. ³ 

"In that day the glory of Jacob will fade; the fat of his body will waste away.

Now in that day the glory of Jacob will fade, And the fatness of his flesh will become lean.

"In that day the glory of Israel will be very dim, for poverty will stalk the land.

"The Day is coming when Jacob's robust splendor goes pale and his well-fed body turns skinny.

And it will be in that day that the glory of Jacob will be made small, and the strength of his body will become feeble.

On that day the glory of Jacob will be brought low, and the fat of his flesh will grow lean.

"In that day it shall come to pass That the glory of Jacob will wane, And the fatness of his flesh grow lean.

“At that time ¹  Jacob’s splendor will be greatly diminished, ²  and he will become skin and bones. ³ 

¹ tn Heb “in that day” (so KJV). The verb that introduces this verse serves as a discourse particle and is untranslated; see note on “in the future” in 2:2.
