Genesis 16:4

He had sexual relations with ¹  Hagar, and she became pregnant. ²  Once Hagar realized she was pregnant, she despised Sarai. ³ 

He slept with Hagar, and she conceived. When she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress.

He went in to Hagar, and she conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her sight.

So Abram slept with Hagar, and she became pregnant. When Hagar knew she was pregnant, she began to treat her mistress Sarai with contempt.

He slept with Hagar and she got pregnant. When she learned she was pregnant, she looked down on her mistress.

And he went in to Hagar and she became with child, and when she saw that she was with child, she no longer had any respect for her master’s wife.

He went in to Hagar, and she conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, she looked with contempt on her mistress.

So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became despised in her eyes.

³ tn Heb “and she saw that she was pregnant and her mistress was despised in her eyes.” The Hebrew verb קָלַל (qalal) means “to despise, to treat lightly, to treat with contempt.” In Hagar’s opinion Sarai had been demoted.
