1 Corinthians 10:8

And let us not be immoral, as some of them were, and twenty-three thousand died in a single day. ¹ 

We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did— and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.

Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day.

And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day.

We must not be sexually promiscuous--they paid for that, remember, with twenty-three thousand deaths in one day!

Again, let us not give way to the desires of the flesh, as some of them did, of whom twenty-three thousand came to their end in one day.

We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day.
