Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

The ¹  words of the prophets agree ²  with this, as it is written,

Then I say, “Look! I come! What is written in the scroll pertains to me. ¹ 

Have I not written thirty sayings ¹  for you, sayings ²  of counsel and knowledge,

because these are days of vengeance, ¹  to fulfill ²  all that is written.

For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope.

“In Bethlehem of Judea,” they said, “for it is written this way by the prophet:

Jesus found a young donkey ¹  and sat on it, just as it is written,

just as it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one,

But the statement it was credited to him ¹  was not written only for Abraham’s ²  sake,

just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” ¹ 

for it is written, “You shall be holy, because I am holy.” ¹ 

“O that ¹  my words were written down, O that they were written on a scroll, ² 

Esther’s command established these matters of Purim, and the matter was officially recorded. ¹ 

“This is the writing that was inscribed: MENE, MENE, ¹  TEQEL, and PHARSIN. ² 

Then ¹  Joshua read aloud all the words of the law, including the blessings and the curses, just as they are written in the law scroll.

That is why the Lord’s anger erupted against this land, bringing on it all the curses ¹  written in this scroll.

The rest of the events of Josiah’s reign, including the faithful acts he did in obedience to what is written in the law of the Lord ¹ 

So the Jews committed themselves to continue what they had begun to do and to what Mordecai had written to them.
