When ¹  did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

So ¹  I made up my own mind ²  not to pay you another painful visit. ³ 

I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’

The Lord visited ¹  Sarah just as he had said he would and did ²  for Sarah what he had promised. ³ 

And that you visit ¹  them every morning, and try ²  them every moment? ³ 

I was a stranger and you did not receive me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’

But when he was about forty years old, it entered his mind ¹  to visit his fellow countrymen ²  the Israelites. ³ 

Now Dinah, Leah’s daughter whom she bore to Jacob, went to meet ¹  the young women ²  of the land.

“Blessed ¹  be the Lord God of Israel, because he has come to help ²  and has redeemed ³  his people.

After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s return ¹  and visit the brothers in every town where we proclaimed the word of the Lord ²  to see how they are doing.” ³ 

For you yourselves know, brothers and sisters, ¹  about our coming to you – it has not proven to be purposeless. ² 

Fearing the Lord ¹  leads ²  to life, ³  and one who does so will live ⁴  satisfied; he will not be afflicted ⁵  by calamity.

“For the Lord says, ‘Only when the seventy years of Babylonian rule ¹  are over will I again take up consideration for you. ²  Then I will fulfill my gracious promise to you and restore ³  you to your homeland. ⁴ 

“Certainly when ¹  I punish Israel for their ²  covenant transgressions, ³  I will destroy ⁴  Bethel’s ⁵  altars. The horns ⁶  of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.

So now go, lead the people to the place I have spoken to you about. See, ¹  my angel will go before you. But on the day that I punish, I will indeed punish them for their sin.” ² 

‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in loyal love, ¹  forgiving iniquity and transgression, ²  but by no means clearing ³  the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children until the third and fourth generations.’ ⁴
