A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory is from the Lord. ¹ 

You are my ¹  king, O God! Decree ²  Jacob’s ³  deliverance!

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” ¹ 

because ¹  everyone ²  who has been fathered by God ³  conquers ⁴  the world. ⁵ This ⁶  is the conquering power ⁷  that has conquered ⁸  the world: our faith.

So the victory of that day was turned to mourning as far as all the people were concerned. For the people heard on that day, “The king is grieved over his son.”

The Lord will deliver the king; ¹  he will answer us ²  when we call to him for help! ³ 

O Lord, you are great, mighty, majestic, magnificent, glorious, and sovereign ¹  over all the sky and earth! You have dominion and exalt yourself as the ruler ²  of all.

David placed garrisons in the territory of the Arameans of Damascus; the Arameans became David’s subjects and brought tribute. The Lord protected ¹  David wherever he campaigned. ²
