to execute judgment on ¹  all, and to convict every person ²  of all their thoroughly ungodly deeds ³  that they have committed, ⁴  and of all the harsh words that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” ⁵ 

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Vindicate me, O God! Fight for me ²  against an ungodly nation! Deliver me ³  from deceitful and evil men! ⁴ 

and if he did not spare the ancient world, but did protect Noah, a herald of righteousness, along with seven others, ¹  when God ²  brought a flood on an ungodly world, ³ 

and if he turned to ashes the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah when he condemned them to destruction, ¹  having appointed ²  them to serve as an example ³  to future generations of the ungodly, ⁴ 

And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become of ¹  the ungodly and sinners? ² 

But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, by being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. ¹ 

For they said to you, “In the end time there will come ¹  scoffers, propelled by their own ungodly desires.” ² 

But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, ¹  his faith is credited as righteousness.

God abandons me to evil ¹  men, ²  and throws ³  me into the hands of wicked men.

realizing that law ¹  is not intended for a righteous person, but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

Moreover, ¹  the Lord says, ²  “Both the prophets and priests are godless. I have even found them doing evil in my temple!

Take a good look! This is what the wicked are like, ¹  those who always have it so easy and get richer and richer. ² 

For certain men ¹  have secretly slipped in among you ²  – men who long ago ³  were marked out ⁴  for the condemnation I am about to describe ⁵  – ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into a license for evil ⁶  and who deny our only Master ⁷  and Lord, ⁸  Jesus Christ.

Certainly ¹  the Lord guards the way of the godly, ²  but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. ³ 

If the righteous are recompensed on earth, ¹  how much more ²  the wicked sinner! ³ 

The waves of death engulfed me; the currents ¹  of chaos ²  overwhelmed me. ³ 

who says to a king, ¹  ‘Worthless man’ ²  and to nobles, ‘Wicked men,’
