But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. As she wept, she bent down and looked into the tomb.

They ¹  found that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb, ² 

Then Peter and the other disciple set out to go to the tomb. ¹ 

and placed it ¹  in his own new tomb that he had cut in the rock. ²  Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance ³  of the tomb and went away.

(Now Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there, opposite the tomb.)

He lived among the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain.

And when he is carried to the tombs, and watch is kept ¹  over the funeral mound, ² 

So ¹  they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

Each night and every day among the tombs and in the mountains, he would cry out and cut himself with stones.

When John’s ¹  disciples heard this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.

And very early on the first day of the week, at sunrise, they went to the tomb.

They had been asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?”

Woe to you! You build ¹  the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors ²  killed.

The ¹  women who had accompanied Jesus ²  from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

Furthermore, some women of our group amazed us. ¹  They ²  were at the tomb early this morning,

And so, because it was the Jewish day of preparation ¹  and the tomb was nearby, ²  they placed Jesus’ body there.

Now very early on the first day of the week, ¹  while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene ²  came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been moved away from the entrance. ³ 

And tombs were opened, and the bodies of many saints who had died ¹  were raised.

So ¹  they went with the soldiers ²  of the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.

Just as Jesus ¹  was getting out of the boat, a man with an unclean spirit ²  came from the tombs and met him. ³
