Then he gives a revelation ¹  to people, and terrifies them with warnings, ² 

That is why snares surround you, and why sudden fear terrifies you,

Then he angrily speaks to them and terrifies them in his rage, ¹  saying, ² 

Distress and anguish ¹  terrify him; they prevail against him like a king ready to launch an attack, ² 

Indeed, God has made my heart faint; ¹  the Almighty has terrified me.

Terrifying sounds fill ¹  his ears; in a time of peace marauders ²  attack him.

My heart palpitates, ¹  I shake in fear; ²  the twilight I desired has brought me terror.

In the morning you will say, ‘If only it were evening!’ And in the evening you will say, ‘I wish it were morning!’ because of the things you will fear and the things you will see.
