“But there is hope for ¹  a tree: ²  If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.

When ¹  the plants sprouted and bore grain, then the weeds also appeared.

Then ¹  seven heads of grain, thin and burned by the east wind, were sprouting up after them.

to satisfy a devastated and desolate land, and to cause it to sprout with vegetation? ¹ 

He goes to sleep and gets up, night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.

When they sprout leaves, you see ¹  for yourselves and know that summer is now near.

They will sprout up like a tree in the grass, ¹  like poplars beside channels of water.

When the wicked sprout up like grass, and all the evildoers glisten, ¹  it is so that they may be annihilated. ² 

¹ The rain and snow fall from the sky and do not return, but instead water the earth and make it produce and yield crops, and provide seed for the planter and food for those who must eat.

You bring their lives to an end and they “fall asleep.” ¹  In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;

There I will make David strong; ¹  I have determined that my chosen king’s dynasty will continue. ² 

A shoot will grow out of Jesse’s ¹  root stock, a bud will sprout ²  from his roots.
