Now the city was spread out ¹  and large, and there were not a lot of people in it. ²  At that time houses had not been rebuilt.

He says, “I will build myself a large palace with spacious upper rooms.” He cuts windows in its walls, panels it ¹  with cedar, and paints its rooms red. ² 

When you invade, ¹  you will encounter ²  unsuspecting people. The land is wide! ³  God is handing it over to you – a place that lacks nothing on earth!” ⁴ 

Even when they were in their kingdom and benefiting from your incredible ¹  goodness that you had lavished ²  on them in the spacious and fertile land you had set ³  before them, they did not serve you, nor did they turn from their evil practices.

I have come down ¹  to deliver them ²  from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up from that land to a land that is both good and spacious, ³  to a land flowing with milk and honey, ⁴  to the region of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. ⁵ 

But the Lord delivers the godly; ¹  he protects them in times of trouble. ² 

“Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.

He brought me out into a wide open place; he delivered me because he was pleased with me. ¹

You do not deliver me over to the power of the enemy; you enable me to stand ¹  in a wide open place.

Over here is the deep, wide sea, ¹  which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, ²  living things both small and large.

Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out its seven pillars. ² 

The one who refuses correction despises himself, ¹  but whoever hears ²  reproof acquires understanding. ³ 

Then he will show you a large furnished room upstairs. Make preparations there.”

For the outlook ¹  of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,

We have spoken freely to you, ¹  Corinthians; our heart has been opened wide to you.

For God ¹  was pleased to have all his ²  fullness dwell ³  in the Son ⁴ 

May God enlarge Japheth’s territory and numbers! ¹  May he live ²  in the tents of Shem and may Canaan be his slave!”

They found fertile and rich pasture; the land was very broad, undisturbed and peaceful. Indeed some Hamites had been living there prior to that.

And surely, he drew you ¹  from the mouth of distress, to a wide place, unrestricted, ²  and to the comfort ³  of your table filled with rich food. ⁴
