For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night.

Then they will say, ‘Under these conditions I can enjoy sweet sleep when I wake up and look around.’” ¹ 

Look! Israel’s protector ¹  does not sleep or slumber!

I will not allow my eyes to sleep, or my eyelids to slumber,

In the troubling thoughts ¹  of the dreams ²  in the night when a deep sleep ³  falls on men,

Laziness brings on ¹  a deep sleep, ²  and the idle person ³  will go hungry. ⁴ 

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax, ¹ 

The sleep of the laborer is pleasant – whether he eats little or much – but the wealth of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

How long, you sluggard, will you lie there? When will you rise from your sleep? ¹ 

“A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax,

Permit no sleep to your eyes ¹  or slumber to your eyelids.

In a dream, a night vision, when deep sleep falls on people as they sleep in their beds.

For they cannot sleep unless they cause harm; ¹  they are robbed of sleep ²  until they make someone stumble. ³ 

But then the Lord awoke from his sleep; ¹  he was like a warrior in a drunken rage. ² 

When their appetites are all stirred up, ¹  I will set out a banquet for them. I will make them drunk so that they will pass out, ²  they will fall asleep forever, they will never wake up,” ³  says the Lord. ⁴ 

I will lie down and sleep peacefully, ¹  for you, Lord, make me safe and secure. ² 

Rouse yourself! Why do you sleep, O Lord? Wake up! ¹  Do not reject us forever!

The bravehearted ¹  were plundered; ²  they “fell asleep.” ³  All the warriors were helpless. ⁴ 

When ¹  you lie down you will not be filled with fear; ²  when ³  you lie down your sleep will be pleasant. ⁴ 

The angelic messenger ¹  who had been speaking with me then returned and woke me, as a person is wakened from sleep.
