Those who hate you ¹  will be clothed with shame, ²  and the tent of the wicked will be no more.”

May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be humiliated ¹  and disgraced! ² 

For the things they do ¹  in secret are shameful even to mention.

Cover ¹  their faces with shame, so they might seek ²  you, ³  O Lord.

May all who hate Zion be humiliated and turned back!

I will humiliate his enemies, ¹  and his crown will shine.

But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong.

My accusers will be covered ¹  with shame, and draped in humiliation as if it were a robe.

So I will pull your skirt up over your face and expose you to shame like a disgraced adulteress! ¹ 

All day long I feel humiliated ¹  and am overwhelmed with shame, ² 

The righteous person hates anything false, ¹  but the wicked person acts in shameful disgrace. ² 

The one who gives an answer ¹  before he listens ²  – that is his folly and his shame. ³ 

May those who want to harm me be totally embarrassed and ashamed! ¹  May those who arrogantly taunt me be covered with shame and humiliation! ² 

Don’t be afraid, for you will not be put to shame! Don’t be intimidated, ¹  for you will not be humiliated! You will forget about the shame you experienced in your youth; you will no longer remember the disgrace of your abandonment. ² 

May those who say, “Aha! Aha!” be driven back ¹  and disgraced! ² 

You have cut short his youth, ¹  and have covered him with shame. (Selah)

I hold fast ¹  to your rules. O Lord, do not let me be ashamed!

The king shows favor ¹  to a wise ²  servant, but his wrath falls ³  on one who acts shamefully.

A servant who acts wisely ¹  will rule over ²  an heir ³  who behaves shamefully, ⁴  and will share the inheritance along with the relatives. ⁵ 

But Pharaoh’s protection will bring you nothing but shame, and the safety of Egypt’s protective shade nothing but humiliation.
