lest the one who hears it put you to shame and your infamy ¹  will never go away.

Then you will find ¹  favor and good understanding, ²  in the sight of God and people. ³ 

But from those who were influential ¹  (whatever they were makes no difference to me; God shows no favoritism between people ² ) – those influential leaders ³  added ⁴  nothing to my message. ⁵ 

The one who plans to do evil will be called a scheming person. ¹ 

But carefully select from among you, brothers, ¹  seven ²  men who are well-attested, ³  full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge ⁴  of this necessary task. ⁵ 

and has a reputation for good works: as one who has raised children, ¹  practiced hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, helped those in distress – as one who has exhibited all kinds of good works. ² 

“To ¹  the angel of the church in Sardis write the following: ²  “This is the solemn pronouncement of ³  the one who holds ⁴  the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a reputation ⁵  that you are alive, but ⁶  in reality ⁷  you are dead.

Select wise and practical ¹  men, those known among your tribes, whom I may appoint as your leaders.”

For the sake of your reputation, ¹  O Lord, forgive my sin, because it is great. ² 

I was concerned for my holy reputation ¹  which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they went.

through glory and dishonor, through slander and praise; regarded as impostors, ¹  and yet true;

For we are concerned about what is right not only before the Lord but also before men. ¹ 

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, ¹  by looking like other men, ²  and by sharing in human nature. ³ 

and when James, Cephas, ¹  and John, who had a reputation as ²  pillars, ³  recognized ⁴  the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me ⁵  the right hand of fellowship, agreeing ⁶  that we would go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. ⁷ 

Help us, O God, our deliverer! For the sake of your glorious reputation, ¹  rescue us! Forgive our sins for the sake of your reputation! ² 

A good reputation ¹  is better ²  than precious ³  perfume; ⁴  likewise, ⁵  the day of one’s ⁶  death ⁷  is better than the day of one’s birth. ⁸ 

And he must be well thought of by ¹  those outside the faith, ²  so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap. ³ 

“Foreigners, who do not belong to your people Israel, will come from a distant land because of your great reputation ¹  and your ability to accomplish mighty deeds; ²  they will come and direct their prayers toward this temple.

O Lord, our Lord, ¹  how magnificent ²  is your reputation ³  throughout the earth! ⁴ 

When I tripped, they taunted me relentlessly, ¹  and tried to bite me. ²
