Rise up, O judge of the earth! Pay back the proud!

A proud ¹  and arrogant ²  person, whose name is “Scoffer,” ³  acts ⁴  with overbearing pride. ⁵ 

when I said, ‘To here you may come ¹  and no farther, ²  here your proud waves will be confined’? ³ 

Scatter abroad ¹  the abundance ²  of your anger. Look at every proud man ³  and bring him low;

Look at every proud man and abase him; crush the wicked on the spot! ¹ 

We have had our fill ¹  of the taunts of the self-assured, of the contempt of the proud.

The Lord tears down the house of the proud, ¹  but he maintains the boundaries of the widow. ² 

It is better to be lowly in spirit ¹  with the afflicted than to share the spoils ²  with the proud.

Haughty eyes and a proud heart – the agricultural product ¹  of the wicked is sin.

The splendid crown of Ephraim’s drunkards will be trampled underfoot.

Then I said to the people of Judah, ¹  “Listen and pay attention! Do not be arrogant! For the Lord has spoken.

Proud beasts ¹  have not set foot on it, and no lion has passed along it.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.” ¹ 

Though the Lord is exalted, he takes note of the lowly, and recognizes the proud from far away.

The Lord abhors ¹  every arrogant person; ²  rest assured ³  that they will not go unpunished. ⁴ 

Don’t keep speaking so arrogantly, ¹  letting proud talk come out of your mouth! For the Lord is a God who knows; he ²  evaluates what people do.

They are calloused; ¹  they speak arrogantly. ² 

How blessed ¹  is the one ²  who trusts in the Lord ³  and does not seek help from ⁴  the proud or from liars! ⁵ 

haughty eyes, ¹  a lying tongue, ²  and hands that shed innocent blood, ³ 

Indeed, the Lord who commands armies has planned a day of judgment, ¹  for ²  all the high and mighty, for all who are proud – they will be humiliated;
