Other seeds fell among the thorns, ¹  and they grew up and choked them. ² 

And as he sowed, some seeds ¹  fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them.

Other ¹  seeds fell on rocky ground ²  where they did not have much soil. They sprang up quickly because the soil was not deep. ³ 

But other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.

It is like a mustard seed ¹  that when sown in the ground, even though it is the smallest of all the seeds in the ground –

But God gives it a body just as he planned, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.

God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: ¹  plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, ²  and ³  trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” It was so.

The land produced vegetation – plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

It is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest garden plant and becomes a tree, ¹  so that the wild birds ²  come and nest in its branches.” ³
