Indeed, the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets,

So the Lord announced through ¹  his servants the prophets:

And many false prophets will appear and deceive ¹  many,

I spoke to the prophets; I myself revealed many visions; ¹  I spoke in parables ²  through ³  the prophets.”

“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to the prophets who prophesy from their imagination: ¹  ‘Hear the word of the Lord!

Ahab sent messengers to all the Israelites and had the prophets assemble at Mount Carmel.

saying, ¹  “Don’t touch my anointed ones! Don’t harm my prophets!”

saying, ¹  “Don’t touch my chosen ²  ones! Don’t harm my prophets!”

the mighty men and warriors, judges and prophets, omen readers and leaders, ¹ 

Those prophets are just prophesying lies. They are prophesying the delusions of their own minds. ¹ 

“You say, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets of good news ¹  for us here in Babylon.’

Your prophets have become like jackals among the ruins, O Israel.

“But you made the Nazirites drink wine; ¹  you commanded the prophets, ‘Do not prophesy!’

Certainly the sovereign Lord does nothing without first revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

“As for your ancestors, where are they? And did the prophets live forever?

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John appeared. ¹ 

All the law and the prophets depend ¹  on these two commandments.”

They said, ¹  “John the Baptist, others say Elijah, ²  and still others, one of the prophets.”

as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago, ¹ 

Woe to you! You build ¹  the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors ²  killed.
