“‘Adulterous wife, who prefers strangers instead of her own husband!

Instead new wine must be poured into new wineskins. ¹ 

Then they said to one another, ¹  “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” ²  (They had brick instead of stone and tar ³  instead of mortar.) ⁴ 

So I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn sons among the Israelites.

You were not willing to go up, however, but instead rebelled against the Lord your God. ¹

Go ¹  instead to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release ¹  Barabbas instead.

Instead, pursue ¹  his ²  kingdom, ³  and these things will be given to you as well.

Instead your hearts are filled with sadness ¹  because I have said these things to you.

Do we then nullify ¹  the law through faith? Absolutely not! Instead ²  we uphold the law.

Instead, does a Christian sue a Christian, ¹  and do this before unbelievers?

Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Instead, keeping God’s commandments is what counts.

And take ¹  the Levites for me – I am the Lord – instead of all the firstborn males among the Israelites, and the livestock of the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the livestock of the Israelites.”

“Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn males among the Israelites, and the livestock of the Levites instead of their livestock. And the Levites will be mine. I am the Lord.

Instead of shame, you will get a double portion; ¹  instead of humiliation, they will rejoice over the land they receive. ²  Yes, ³  they will possess a double portion in their land and experience lasting joy.
