ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell,

and ears, but cannot hear. Indeed, they cannot breathe. ¹ 

Then blind eyes will open, deaf ears will hear.

The one who has ears had better listen! ¹

If anyone has ears to hear, he had better listen!” ¹ 

“Indeed, my eyes have seen all this, ²  my ears have heard and understood it.

Listen carefully ¹  to my words; let your ears be attentive to my explanation. ² 

Terrifying sounds fill ¹  his ears; in a time of peace marauders ²  attack him.

Apply ¹  your heart to instruction and your ears to the words of knowledge.

Eyes ¹  will no longer be blind ²  and ears ³  will be attentive.

You heard ¹  my plea: ²  “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief!” ³ 

“But your eyes are blessed ¹  because they see, and your ears because they hear.

And he said, “Whoever has ears to hear had better listen!” ¹ 

And immediately the man’s ¹  ears were opened, his tongue loosened, and he spoke plainly.

Make the hearts of these people calloused; make their ears deaf and their eyes blind! Otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, their hearts might understand and they might repent and be healed.” ¹ 

So all ¹  the people broke off the gold earrings that were on their ears and brought them to Aaron.

But to this very day the Lord has not given you an understanding mind, perceptive eyes, or discerning ears! ¹ 

Destruction ¹  and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a rumor about where it can be found.’ ² 

Do not speak in the ears of a fool, ¹  for he will despise the wisdom of your words. ²
