As ¹  water disappears from the sea, ²  or a river drains away and dries up,

People ¹  are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears. ² 

Your plunder ¹  disappears as if locusts were eating it; ²  they swarm over it like locusts! ³ 

As ¹  a cloud is dispersed and then disappears, ²  so the one who goes down to the grave ³  does not come up again. ⁴ 

but when the hot wind ¹  blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.

For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything; they have no further reward – and even the memory of them disappears. ¹ 

But the garment or the warp or the woof or any article of leather which you wash and infection disappears from it ¹  is to be washed a second time and it will be clean.”

What am I going to do with you, O Ephraim? What am I going to do with you, O Judah? For ¹  your faithfulness is as fleeting as the morning mist; ²  it disappears as quickly as dawn’s dew! ³ 

Therefore they will disappear like ¹  the morning mist, ²  like early morning dew that evaporates, ³  like chaff that is blown away ⁴  from a threshing floor, like smoke that disappears through an open window.

before God’s decree becomes reality ¹  and the day of opportunity disappears like windblown chaff, ²  before the Lord’s raging anger ³  overtakes ⁴  you – before the day of the Lord’s angry judgment overtakes you!

Do not work for the food that disappears, ¹  but for the food that remains to eternal life – the food ²  which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has put his seal of approval on him.” ³
