How will he severely punish you, you deceptive talker? ¹ 

His mouth is full of curses and deceptive, harmful words; ¹  his tongue injures and destroys. ² 

Then make sure you don’t speak evil words ¹  or use deceptive speech! ² 

For they say cruel and deceptive things to me; they lie to me. ¹ 

You despise ¹  all who stray from your statutes, for they are deceptive and unreliable. ² 

Do not crave that ruler’s ¹  delicacies, for ²  that food is deceptive. ³ 

I do not condone the use of rigged scales, or a bag of deceptive weights. ¹ 

Why should I be afraid in times of trouble, ¹  when the sinful deeds of deceptive men threaten to overwhelm me? ² 

The city’s rich men think nothing of resorting to violence; ¹  her inhabitants lie, ²  their tongues speak deceptive words. ³ 

You prove to be reliable ¹  to one who is blameless, but you prove to be deceptive ²  to one who is perverse. ³ 

You men, ¹  how long will you try to turn my honor into shame? ²  How long ³  will you love what is worthless ⁴  and search for what is deceptive? ⁵  (Selah)

And in their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words. Their ¹  condemnation pronounced long ago ²  is not sitting idly by; ³  their ⁴  destruction is not asleep.

They ¹  say to the visionaries, “See no more visions!” and to the seers, “Don’t relate messages to us about what is right! ²  Tell us nice things, relate deceptive messages. ³
