Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch,

Then Daniel spoke to ¹  the king, “O king, live forever!

Then in a night vision the mystery was revealed to Daniel. So Daniel praised ¹  the God of heaven,

So Daniel was brought in before the king. The king said to Daniel, “Are you that Daniel who is one of the captives of Judah, whom my father the king brought from Judah?

Daniel then spoke to the warden ¹  whom the overseer of the court officials had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

Look, you are wiser than Daniel; ¹  no secret is hidden from you. ² 

Then God made the overseer of the court officials sympathetic to Daniel. ¹ 

Now Daniel lived on until the first ¹  year of Cyrus the king.

So this Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and ¹  the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three whole weeks. ¹ 

I, Daniel, watched as two others stood there, one on each side of the river. ¹ 

And at Daniel’s request, the king ¹  appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the administration of the province of Babylon. Daniel himself served in the king’s court. ² 

Thus there was found in this man Daniel, whom the king renamed Belteshazzar, an extraordinary spirit, knowledge, and skill to interpret ¹  dreams, solve riddles, and decipher knotty problems. ²  Now summon ³  Daniel, and he will disclose the interpretation.”

So the king gave the order, ¹  and Daniel was brought and thrown into a den ²  of lions. The king consoled ³  Daniel by saying, “Your God whom you continually serve will rescue you!”

As he approached the den, he called out to Daniel in a worried voice, ¹  “Daniel, servant of the living God, was your God whom you continually serve able to rescue you from the lions?”

Then the king was delighted and gave an order to haul Daniel up from the den. So Daniel was hauled up out of the den. He had no injury of any kind, because he had trusted in his God.

As it turned out, ¹  among these young men ²  were some from Judah: ³  Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. ⁴ 

Then Daniel went to his home and informed his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah of the matter.

“As for me, Daniel, my spirit was distressed, ¹  and the visions of my mind ²  were alarming me.
