to satisfy a devastated and desolate land, and to cause it to sprout with vegetation? ¹ 

For you defended my just cause; ¹  from your throne you pronounced a just decision. ² 

Rouse yourself, wake up ¹  and vindicate me! ²  My God and Lord, defend my just cause! ³ 

He will vindicate you in broad daylight, and publicly defend your just cause. ¹ 

All day long they cause me trouble; ¹  they make a habit of plotting my demise. ² 

Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! ¹  Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!

I know ¹  that the Lord defends the cause of the oppressed and vindicates the poor. ² 

Do not accuse ¹  anyone ²  without legitimate cause, ³  if he has not treated you wrongly.

Open your mouth, judge in righteousness, ¹  and plead the cause ²  of the poor and needy.

They pronounce the guilty innocent for a payoff, they ignore the just cause of the innocent. ¹ 

Do not cause me dismay! ¹  You are my source of safety in times of trouble.

ר (Resh) O Lord, ¹  you championed ²  my cause, ³  you redeemed my life.

Any one of you that I do not cut off from my altar, I will cause your ¹  eyes to fail ²  and will cause you grief. ³  All of those born to your family ⁴  will die in the prime of life. ⁵ 

¹ “You must not give ²  a false report. ³  Do not make common cause ⁴  with the wicked ⁵  to be a malicious ⁶  witness.

Forgive all the rebellious acts of your sinful people and cause their captors to have mercy on them. ¹ 

And you will get a serious, chronic intestinal disease which will cause your intestines to come out.” ¹ 

For you write down ¹  bitter things against me and cause me to inherit the sins of my youth. ² 

to cause it to rain on an uninhabited land, ¹  a desert where there are no human beings, ²
