“Do you really think anyone can hide himself where I cannot see him?” the Lord asks. ¹  “Do you not know that I am everywhere?” ²  the Lord asks. ³ 

Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? ¹ 

Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹ 

If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs ¹  it.’”

“Do I bring a baby to the birth opening and then not deliver it?” asks the Lord. “Or do I bring a baby to the point of delivery and then hold it back?” asks your God. ¹ 

Do you people think ¹  that I am some local deity and not the transcendent God?” ²  the Lord asks. ³ 

Give to the one who asks you, ¹  and do not reject ²  the one who wants to borrow from you.

Is ¹  there anyone among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

What father among you, if your ¹  son asks for ²  a fish, will give him a snake ³  instead of a fish?

He said to her, “Stand watch at the entrance to the tent. If anyone comes along and asks you, ‘Is there a man here?’ say ‘No.’”

For everyone who asks ¹  receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

But he answered them, ¹  “An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Give to everyone who asks you, ¹  and do not ask for your possessions ²  back ³  from the person who takes them away.

For everyone who asks ¹  receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door ²  will be opened.

But set Christ ¹  apart ²  as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess. ³ 

He instructed the servant leading the first herd, ¹  “When my brother Esau meets you and asks, ‘To whom do you belong? ²  Where are you going? Whose herds are you driving?’ ³ 

¹ In the future, ²  when your son asks you ³  ‘What is this?’ ⁴  you are to tell him, ‘With a mighty hand ⁵  the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the land of slavery. ⁶ 

if the king becomes angry and asks you, ‘Why did you go so close to the city to fight? Didn’t you realize they would shoot from the wall?

A voice says, “Cry out!” Another asks, ¹  “What should I cry out?” The first voice responds: ²  “All people are like grass, ³  and all their promises ⁴  are like the flowers in the field.

But now plead for God’s favor ¹  that he might be gracious to us. ²  “With this kind of offering in your hands, how can he be pleased with you?” asks the Lord who rules over all.
