In the middle of the night I arise ¹  to thank you for your just regulations.

“Arise! Shine! For your light arrives! The splendor ¹  of the Lord shines on you!

Cries of anguish will arise in Horonaim, ‘Oh, the ruin and great destruction!’

Then a powerful king ¹  will arise, exercising great authority and doing as he pleases.

The ten horns mean that ten kings will arise from that kingdom. Another king will arise after them, but he will be different from the earlier ones. He will humiliate ¹  three kings.

I considered all the living who walk on earth, ¹  as well as the successor ²  who would arise ³  in his place.

‘These large beasts, which are four in number, represent four kings who will arise from the earth.

Egypt rises like the Nile, like its streams turbulent at flood stage. Egypt says, ‘I will arise and cover the earth. I will destroy cities and the people who inhabit them.’
