“You shall not commit adultery. ¹ 

You must not commit adultery.

adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.

You who tell others not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor ¹  idols, do you rob temples?

But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries ¹  someone else commits adultery, and the one who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

I will have no pity on her children, ¹  because they are children conceived in adultery. ² 

There is only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery. They resort to violence and bloodshed. ¹ 

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ ¹ 

For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

So ¹  he told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

And if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” ¹ 

and said to Jesus, ¹  “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery.

For they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They have committed adultery with their idols, and their sons, whom they bore to me, ¹  they have passed through the fire as food to their idols. ² 

For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” ¹  also said, “Do not murder.” ²  Now if you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a violator of the law.

A man who commits adultery with a woman lacks wisdom, ¹  whoever does it destroys his own life. ² 

Then I said about the one worn out by adultery, ‘Now they will commit immoral acts with her.’

Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another commits adultery.”

If a man ¹  commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, ²  both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

But upright men will punish them appropriately for their adultery and bloodshed, ¹  because they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.
