He will yet ¹  fill your mouth with laughter, ²  and your lips with gladness.

The one enthroned ¹  in heaven laughs in disgust; ²  the Lord taunts ³  them.

But you, O Lord, laugh in disgust at them; ¹  you taunt ²  all the nations.

I said of partying, ¹  “It is folly,” and of self-indulgent pleasure, ²  “It accomplishes nothing!” ³ 

And they began making fun ¹  of him, because they knew ²  that she was dead. ³ 

I am ¹  a laughingstock ²  to my friends, ³  I, who called on God and whom he answered ⁴  – a righteous and blameless ⁵  man is a laughingstock!

“Woe to you who are well satisfied with food ¹  now, for you will be hungry. “Woe to you ²  who laugh ³  now, for you will mourn and weep.

Then Sarah lied, saying, “I did not laugh,” because she was afraid. But the Lord said, “No! You did laugh.” ¹ 

Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. ¹  Everyone who hears about this ²  will laugh ³  with me.”

he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they began making fun of him. ¹ 

Surely mockery ¹  is with me; ²  my eyes must dwell on their hostility. ³ 

But as soon as she springs up, ¹  she laughs at the horse and its rider.

When the godly see this, they will be filled with awe, and will mock the evildoer, saying: ¹ 

Even in laughter the heart may ache, ¹  and the end ²  of joy may be ³  grief.

Sorrow ¹  is better than laughter, because sober reflection ²  is good for the heart. ³ 

I have become the laughingstock of all people, ¹  their mocking song ²  all day long. ³ 

And they began making fun of him. ¹  But he put them all outside ²  and he took the child’s father and mother and his own companions ³  and went into the room where the child was. ⁴ 

But Sarah noticed ¹  the son of Hagar the Egyptian – the son whom Hagar had borne to Abraham – mocking. ² 

If I smiled at them, they hardly believed it; ¹  and they did not cause the light of my face to darken. ² 

I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One! ¹
