The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars ¹  by its branches.

The trees of the Lord ¹  receive all the rain they need, ²  the cedars of Lebanon which he planted,

The Lord’s shout breaks ¹  the cedars, the Lord shatters ²  the cedars of Lebanon. ³ 

for all the cedars of Lebanon, that are so high and mighty, for all the oaks of Bashan; ¹ 

The evergreens also rejoice over your demise, ¹  as do the cedars of Lebanon, singing, ²  ‘Since you fell asleep, ³  no woodsman comes up to chop us down!’ ⁴ 

The thornbush said to the trees, ‘If you really want to choose ¹  me as your king, then come along, find safety under my branches! ²  Otherwise ³  may fire blaze from the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!’
