“I ¹  am weary ²  of my life; I will complain without restraint; ³  I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

Indeed ¹  I am composed and quiet, ²  like a young child carried by its mother; ³  I am content like the young child I carry. ⁴ 

I ¹  have refused ²  to touch such things; ³  they are like loathsome food to me. ⁴ 

so that I ¹  would prefer ²  strangling, ³  and ⁴  death ⁵  more ⁶  than life. ⁷

When worries threaten to overwhelm me, ¹  your soothing touch makes me happy. ² 

ד (Dalet) I collapse in the dirt. ¹  Revive me with your word! ² 

I collapse ¹  from grief. Sustain me by your word! ² 

כ (Kaf) I desperately long for ¹  your deliverance. I find hope in your word.

My life is in continual danger, ¹  but I do not forget your law.

פ (Pe) Your rules are marvelous. Therefore I observe them.

I keep your rules; I love them greatly.

May I ¹  live and praise you! May your regulations help me! ² 

I rely on ¹  the Lord, I rely on him with my whole being; ²  I wait for his assuring word. ³ 

I yearn for the Lord, ¹  more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning. ² 

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!

I ¹  am deprived ²  of peace; ³  I have forgotten what happiness ⁴  is.

I ¹  continually think about ²  this, and I ³  am depressed. ⁴
