If God ¹  were to set his heart on it, ²  and gather in his spirit and his breath,

The Lord’s messenger appeared and said to him, “The Lord is with you, courageous warrior!”

The Lord told him: ¹ 

The Lord told him, ¹ 

defiantly charging against him ¹  with a thick, strong shield! ² 

You will pray to him and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows to him. ¹ 

I cried out to him for help ¹  and praised him with my tongue. ² 

When ¹  Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he was almost blind, ²  he called his older ³  son Esau and said to him, “My son!” “Here I am!” Esau ⁴  replied.

In fact, what other great nation has a god so near to them like the Lord our God whenever we call on him?

Then his wife Jezebel came in and said to him, “Why do you have a bitter attitude and refuse to eat?”

The king ¹  sent another captain and his fifty soldiers to retrieve Elijah. He went up and told him, ²  “Prophet, this is what the king says, ‘Come down at once!’” ³ 

Then they asked him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” He replied, “There, ¹  in the tent.”

The man asked him, ¹  “What is your name?” ²  He answered, “Jacob.”

But they exclaimed, ¹  “No, my lord! Your servants have come to buy grain for food!

But we said to him, ‘We are honest men; we are not spies!

The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A staff.” ¹ 

God spoke ¹  to Moses and said to him, “I am the Lord. ² 

He asked me, ‘Who are you?’ I told him, ‘I’m ¹  an Amalekite.’

He then said to him, “Come home with me and eat something.”

When the messengers returned to the king, ¹  he asked them, “Why have you returned?”
